Chargrilled wings dripping in sweet and spicy hot honey butter, used first to season, then to coat, to create an epic appetizer.
Get ready to up your grilling game with these mouthwatering Grilled Hot Honey Butter Chicken Wings! Perfect for summer barbecues or game day gatherings, the real star of this recipe combines the irresistible flavors of hot honey and butter.
I use the new hot honey butter mix from Hardcore Carnivore to coat the wings before cooking. I then added it to butter, melted it, and put it over the hot, freshly cooked wings just before serving. While this mix was originally intended to make instant compound butter, I couldn’t resist using it just as a seasoning. Made with honey powder, paprika, smoked paprika, and a host of other spices, it’s savory and spicy, a delicious balance of heat and flavor. The hot honey butter mix paired perfectly with these chicken wings, and it would be a great seasoning on other meats, like ribs, or even vegetables, like roasted brussel sprouts. There are so many possibilities, I can’t wait to see how you use it in your kitchen to elevate your grilling and impress your friends and family.
To get the best char on the skin, cook the chicken wings first over direct heat for 2-3 minutes per side. Finish on indirect heat to allow it to cook through. Check for an internal temperature of 165 F to ensure doneness before removing from the grill. It couldn’t be easier to make the hot honey butter mix. Just combine the hot honey mix and butter and melt in a grill-safe pan or in a microwave before drizzling over the cooked wings. Serve these wings hot and watch them disappear! Whether enjoyed as an appetizer or a side dish, this hot honey butter wings recipe is sure to be a crowd-pleaser that will leave everyone asking for more.

Grilled Hot Honey Wings
Ingredients
- 8 x whole chicken wings (about 2-3lb)
- 3 tablespoons Hot Honey Butter Mix
- 2 oz/4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
Instructions
- Prepare a grill for medium heat cooking, about 400f. Set it up for two zones – with direct AND indirect heat.
- Coat the wings with the oil, then shaker over approx 2 tablespoons of the Hot Honey Butter Mix. Using gloved hands, toss to coat so the wings are well seasoned.
- Place the wings onto the hot/direct side of the grill, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook a further 2-3 minutes on the other side. You should be developing nice char on the skin.
- Move the wings to the indirect side of the grill, close the lid and continue to cook until the internal temperature reaches 165f, about 10-15 minutes.
- In a heat safe pan, place the remaining Hot Honey Butter Mix and the butter, and place onto the grill to melt. This can also be done in the microwave, if preferred. Stir everything well once the butter is melted.
- Remove the wings from the grill into a large bowl, then pour over the Hot Honey Butter. Toss to coat the wings, then serve immediately.
